Hiking to Jamacho Hill: A Tranquil Escape into the Wild.
Located at an altitude of 2130m above sea level, Jamacho Hill is also a Buddhist shrine. A stupa and a small monastery sit atop the hill, and climbing the watchtower offers you panoramic 360-degree views of the surrounding landscapes, mountains, and the Kathmandu Valley. You will find thousands of prayer flags hung around the stupa and monastery, which add to the beauty of the peak.
As you reach Jamacho Hill, the peacefulness of the surroundings will calm your senses. To start your journey, you need to take a short drive to Phulbari Gate, near Balaju Bypass, and enter the jungle. The hustle and bustle of the Kathmandu Valley will soon fade away, and after a 2.5-hour upward hike, you will reach the peak.
The breathtaking views from the peak, including the hills, lush valley, and snow-clad peaks, will leave you mesmerized. After capturing the picturesque views, you can hike back following the same route. The descent is faster, and you can reach the bottom within two hours. From the gate, you can catch a car to take you back to your hotel.
This hike is an excellent alternative for those travelers who seek a short and easy walk on the hill. As it takes only 6-7 hours to complete, visitors having a short time in Kathmandu can easily afford this journey. It is also a perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to escape the city for a while and immerse themselves in nature.
